Welcome to the new home of the Hot Rod Gazette, the fanzine that lit a fire under the UK hot rod scene, bared its bottom at the pompous, got ink all over your hands, then dropped all its coolant in the halls of the mighty before legging it to the bar and falling over someone else’s tent. We need some of that back…
This will be the new home for important news, events, gibberish, profanity and possibly some pictures that prove that modern cameras and phones are NOT foolproof. If you want inky fingers, though, you’ll have to do it yourself. Sorry.
… Head Out On The Highway
Things the HRG doesn’t care about:
1. How much money you spent on your car
2. Whether it’s a hot rod, a street rod, a custom, a kustom, a classic, a retro car, a muscle car, a street/strip car, a truck, heavily modified, bone stock, a minter, a shed, built, bought or held together with duct tape.
Things the HRG does care about:
1. Getting out there and using your car, be it cruising to shows, thrashing up the strip, or just going for a drive
2. Enjoying the scene, meeting new friends, dodging the politics and making the most of every summer weekend
3. Beer. But only after the driving/racing’s done
The National Street Car Challenge
The Hot Rod Gazette spawned its own street/race challenge back in the Nineties where competitors scored points not only for racing at York Dragway, but also for attending shows and cruises. This encouraged people to actually get out and use their cars, and it was very rarely the fastest car that won the series. It’s still going strong – click the button for more info
